Overview

Mercedes' flagship SL-Class roadster dominates its segment like no other. The classy rear-wheel drive luxury roadster is quite simply the default choice when it comes to high-end, high-visibility motoring. The 2010 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is a two-seat roadster with a retractable hardtop available in five models: SL550, SL600, SL63 AMG and SL65 AMG. The Mercedes-Benz SL-Class sports an aggressive new front. Also, every 2010 SL-Class model comes with a lot of new or improved standard features, as well as significant upgrades to the steering and the Active Body Control system.

Powertrain And Performance

The rear-wheel-drive Mercedes-Benz SL550 is powered by a 5.5-liter V8 rated at 382 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque attached to a seven-speed automatic transmission. The SL600 derives power from a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V12 engine which churns out a massive 510 hp and 612 lb-ft of torque. It has a five-speed automatic and an estimated 4.4-second 0-60 time. The SL63 AMG gets a 6.2-liter V8 that pumps out an impressive 518 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. The transmission is Mercedes' new seven-speed automated-clutch manual gearbox, dubbed Speedshift MCT. The SL65 AMG features a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 that cranks out 604 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed automatic sends this earth-rumbling power to the rear tires.

Build And Styling

The 2010 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class brings awesome features like Airscarf, the trick top arrangement, and dreamy seats with it. The effective styles of single-bar grille, flanked by L-shaped headlamps put this car ahead of others. The interior has also been improved with better seats, a new-look three-spoke leather steering wheel, and a completely restyled instrument cluster. It offers Airscarf, a sophisticated air-spring system, which provides heated air to neck, head and shoulders in chilly top down conditions. The SL's seats offer 12-way power adjustment plus pneumatically adjustable lumbar support, 3-position memory and two levels of soothing heat.

Safety Features

The SL-Class comes equipped with latest safety features. It offers the most advanced suspension system providing excellent balance of ride control and handling. It provides Electronic Stability Programmed (ESP) to monitor vehicle motions. Apart from these features it provides anti lock braking system, traction control, antiskid system, side airbags, driver knee airbag, and a rollover bar.
